The Youth Leadership Foundation offers two programs for youth over the
summer. The Program
for Academic and Leadership Skills (PALS) is for young women who are in
grades 3-11 and the Tenley Achievement Program (TAP) is for young men who are in grades 4-11.
PALS PALS provides a venue for young women to achieve
personal growth and academic excellence and helps 3rd through 11th grade girls develop leadership skills through
supplementary classes in Math,
English and Science. PALS also aims to encourage creativity and
confidence through the visual and
performing arts. These classes prepare students to pursue a college
education and ultimately, professional success.
PALS’ invites motivated young women to apply to their five week summer session. The online
application is due May 31st and the cost to attend the PALS
program is $225.
The TAP program fosters the personal and academic development of disadvantaged minority
boys. Through TAP, students will become true
leaders who are academically proficient, self-disciplined, diligent, and
morally principled. TAP offers a combination of classroom
instruction, individual tutoring, competitive athletic competition, and
personal mentoring.
TAP’s professional and
demanding academic programs impart solid
study habits and bolster student proficiency in key subjects (Math, English,
and Science). All TAP programs are offered to qualified young men regardless of race,
color, or creed.
The online
application is due May 31st and the cost to attend the TAP program is $225.
The PALS and TAP program are located within
walking distance from the Brookland-CUA
Metro Station and are located at:
1001 Lawrence St., NE Washington, DC 20017.
