Young ladies are invited to an upcoming 'Total Wellness' Conference!

 
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Xi Omega Chapter, in collaboration with the Pearl and Ivy Educational Foundation, Incorporated will host its Sixth Annual Women and Girls’ Conference, "Your Best Self: Total Wellness for the Future." The conference will be held from 9am–3pm on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Catholic University of America in the Pryzbyla Center.

Conference Highlights include:
Keynote address by Shawn Yancy, Anchor, WTTG FOX 5 News.
An awards program, honoring local women who have demonstrated commitment to their local and global community.
Commitment and Dedication to Black Women and Total Wellness Award presented to Eleanor Hinton Hoyt, CEO of the Black Women’s Health Imperative and author of “Health First: The Black Women’s Wellness Guide.”
Practical workshops and panel discussions that will include finances, positive relationships with self and others, and healthy lifestyle tips for women and girls (ages 13 and older).

At the conference there will be a service project to benefit Our Place DC, a non-profit that supports women who have been impacted by the criminal justice system by providing them with resources to maintain relationships with the community, help with resettlement after incarceration, and reconnect with their families.

The Washington metropolitan area community, including churches, school-based organizations, and local organizations that serve girls are invited to participate in the conference.

The conference costs $30 for adults and is free for youth ages 13-18. Registration is required and includes continental breakfast, workshops, and lunch. There is no on-site registration and seating is limited.
